Multi-award winning international Journalist
An award-winning multi-platform journalist who came to Australia with her family as refugees from Afghanistan in the early 90s. In 2014, she was awarded the ABC Sydney Cadetship and has since worked in Sydney and western NSW newsrooms as a news presenter, reporter and video journalist. Tahmina made history in 2013 by being the first veiled reporter on national television. Her stories have featured on flagship programs such as Landline, AM and PM. She has also presented the flagship current affairs program Australian Story. In 2014 she was a finalist in the NSW Kennedy Awards for 'Outstanding Radio News and Current Affairs'. Most recently, she was a finalist for the camerawork category for the Young Walkley Awards and won the 2015 NSW Young Journalist of the Year at the Premier’s Multicultural Media Awards. She was also a finalist for her reporting in regional New South Wales at the Walkley Awards. Since then, Tahmina has moved to TRT World, an organisation that covers worldwide news, where she is a producer/presenter based out of Istanbul.
